The Press release...
UMe Digital Set to Launch Innovative Series of Releases for Wild Colonials
Universal Music Enterprises' Trailblazing Label UMe Digital, announced today
that one of its newly signed artists, Wild Colonials, will be presented in a
quarterly series of
single/EP releases rather than the traditional full-length album format.
A single "Vicious Circle" from the folk-infused rock band led by acclaimed
singer Angela McCluskey will be released April 4, 2006. EPs containing four to
five songs each will follow April 25, June and Sept. This marks the first time
a series of quarterly EP releases for one artist has been offered by any major
label. The project under the umbrella title of Life As We Know It was
produced by Wild Colonials guitarist Shark. Each EP will contain three tracks from
the “album” plus a non-album track and if downloaded from iTunes bonuses of an
exclusive track (remixes, acoustic studio and or live
versions) and a digital booklet (with lyrics, photos and stories about the
songs).
“Everyone is talking about downloads and iTunes changing everything,” Shark
explains. “But I believe MP3's are the 45 of the new millennium and not the
end of the album. In a strange way, we are getting back to the way things used
to be. The Beatles, Elvis Presley and even Hendrix were singles acts. I
remember as a kid buying import New Wave EP’s and rare singles, but I still
bought the new Clash and Elvis Costello albums. It got me thinking that in this
brave new world we can get more music out over the course of the year with these
EP’s rather than one 11 track album.”
The track listing for the first EP is...
Life As We Know It - EP 1 of 4
Vicious Circle
Love®
True (With You)
Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan cover
iTunes bonus track...
Girl (Live from The Troubadour)
and a digital booklet

3) Paul: M. Night Shyamalan commercial
****************************************************************

Wild's violinist/pianist Paul has scored the new M. Night Shyamalan American
Express commercial. The memorable commercial directed by (and starring) M.
Night Shyamalan made its debut during the Oscar telecast. The commercial, which
runs around 2 minutes, is now available online in Quicktime format. Or,
download it compressed, as a ZIP file at www.mnight.com.
Paul first met M. Night while doing musical research for the film The
Village. Paul was asked to research traditional piano parlor polkas (really, who
else are you going to call.)
The films Music supervisor Sue Jacobs recommended Paul to M. Night who
apparently has been a big Wild Colonials fan for years. Paul tells us that the
experience was wonderfull and describes M. Night as a lovely man and the last of
the Elegant Directors.
